If you experience a crash with a blue or black screen error message, a crash to your desktop, or if your computer completely locks up while playing Hearthstone, make sure your computer meets the Hearthstone System Requirements.

If your system meets the requirements, follow the steps below to resolve the issue.

Windows

  1. Update your drivers regularly.
  2. Close any running background applications.
  3. Run the repair tool to resolve issues with damaged game files.
Advanced Troubleshooting
  1. Overclocked system components can cause crashes. Set your components to factory default speeds to resolve this issue.
  2. Changes to the software settings on your video card drivers may cause crashes or lockups. Reset your video driver settings to correct this problem.
  3. Your system components can overheat, causing your system to lock up and become unresponsive. Check for overheating components.
  4. Deleting the Battle.net cache folder may resolve issues caused by outdated files.
  5. Run Check Disk and defragment your hard drive to try to repair any bad sectors.
  6. Crashes and lockups may be caused by problems with your computer's physical memory. Run a memory scan to rule out this issue.
  7. If the issue persists, uninstall your copy of Hearthstone and reinstall the game using Battle.net.

Mac

  1. Run Software Update to be sure you're using the most recent version.
  2. Reset Folder & File Permissions to make sure there is no conflict between the latest OS update and your permissions.
  3. Run the repair tool to resolve issues with damaged game files.
