How to Take a Screenshot

Each Blizzard game handles screenshots differently. Select the operating system you are using, then select your game from the dropdown menu and follow the instructions.

Windows

Diablo II

  1. While in-game, press the Print Screen (Prt Scr) key.
  2. The screenshot will be saved as a .jpg image file in your Diablo II folder.
  3. If you are running Diablo II in a window, press Alt + Prt Scr to take a screenshot of Diablo II.
  4. Each time you press the Print Screen key or Alt + Prt Scr, a new screenshot will be added to the folder. You may need to get a special image viewing utility to open or modify the screenshots.

Diablo III

  1. While in-game, press the Print Screen (Prt Scr) key.
  2. The screenshot will be saved in your Diablo III > Screenshots folder.

StarCraft

  1. While in-game, press the Print Screen (Prt Scr) key.
  2. The screenshot will be saved as a .pcx image file in the StarCraft game folder on your hard drive.
  3. Each time you press the Print Screen key, a new screenshot will be added to the folder. You may need a special image viewing utility to open up or modify the screenshots.

StarCraft II

  1. While in-game, press the Print Screen (Prt Scr) key on your keyboard.
  2. The game will stutter for a split second as the screenshot is taken.
  3. If you are not yet logged in, the screenshot will appear as a .jpg file in the following location: Documents > StarCraft II > Screenshots
    If you are logged in, the screenshot will appear as a .jpg in the following location:
    Documents > StarCraft II > Accounts > ####### > ####### > Screenshots
  4. You may double-click the screenshot files to view the screenshots in Windows default image viewer.

Warcraft II: Battle.net Edition

  1. While in-game, press the Print Screen (Prt Scr) key on your keyboard.
  2. The screenshot will be saved as a .pcx image file in the Warcraft II BNE game folder on your hard drive.
  3. Each time you press the Print Screen key, a new screenshot will be added to the folder. You may need to get a special image viewing utility to open up or modify the screenshots.

Warcraft III

  1. While in-game, press the Print Screen (Prt Scr) key.
  2. The screenshot will be saved as a .tga image file in the Warcraft III > Screenshots game folder on your hard drive.
  3. You may need to get a special image viewing utility to open up or modify the .tga file.

World of Warcraft

  1. While in-game, press the Print Screen (Prt Scr) key.
  2. You will see a "Screen Captured" message.
  3. The screenshot will appear as a .jpg file in the World of Warcraft > Screenshots folder.
  4. You can double-click on the screenshot files to view the screenshots in Windows default image viewer.

Windows Vista users

Due to extra security on the system, screenshots will be saved to the following folder:
C:\users\*your user name*\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Screenshots

If the AppData folder is hidden, turn on the ability to view hidden files:
  1. Click Start.
  2. Select Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization Folder Options.
  3. Click the View tab.
  4. Under Advanced settings click Show hidden files and folders.
  5. Click OK.

Mac

Diablo II

There are two methods you can use to capture a screenshot:

  1. While in-game, press F13.
  2. The screenshot will be saved as a .pict image file in your Diablo II folder.

The second method uses your Mac's screenshot ability:

  1. While in-game, press Command+Shift+3.
  2. The screenshot will appear as an Acrobat Reader (.pdf) file in your Diablo II folder.
  3. You may need to get Adobe Acrobat Reader to open up or modify the .pdf file if you cannot do so normally.

Diablo III

There are two methods you can use to capture a screenshot:

  1. While in-game, press F13.
  2. The screenshot will be saved as a .jpg image file in ~/Library/Application Support/Blizzard/Diablo III/Screenshots folder. 

The second method uses your Mac's screenshot ability:

  1. While in-game, press Command+Shift+3.
  2. The screenshot will appear as a .png file on the desktop with system date and time

StarCraft

In-game Functionality:

  1. While in-game, press F13. If you don't have an F13 key, change the default Screenshot key in the Hotkeys>Global>UI menu.
  2. The game will stutter for a split second as the screenshot is taken.
  3. The screenshot will appear as a .jpeg file in the ~/Library/Application Support/Blizzard/StarCraft II/Accounts/[Account Number]/[Random Number]/Screenshots folder.

OS X Native Functionality:

  1. While in-game, press Command+Shift+3.
  2. The screenshot will appear as a .png file on the desktop with system date and time.
