StarCraft® II Patch Troubleshooting

If you receive an error message while patching StarCraft® II or if your patch is stuck, follow the steps below to address the issue.

Windows

  1. The StarCraft II Launcher requires permission to update the files on your computer. Be sure to use an administrator account so it has the permission it needs.
  2. You must have a stable internet connection to patch the game. If you experience connectivity issues, try optimizing your internet connection.
  3. Programs running in the background can conflict with the patch process. Close any running background applications and try again.
  4. Security software can prevent the game launcher from updating files. Try disabling or temporarily uninstalling your security applications.
Advanced Troubleshooting
  1. The Agent helper program is what handles updates and installation for Blizzard games. Issues can arise if it's not functioning properly. Try troubleshooting Agent.
  2. You may experience problems updating the game if your computer is behind a proxy. Disable your proxy and try again. 
  3. Special network configurations may also interfere with the patch process. Check your network configuration and try again.

Mac

Mac OS X 10.6 is a "soft-supported" operating system for StarCraft II. This means we will only continue to support Mac OS X 10.6 for StarCraft II for a limited time.
