Slow and choppy gameplay can have a variety of causes. Select your operating system below for steps to resolve the issue.

Windows

  1. Make sure that your computer meets the game's system requirements.
  2. Make sure the game is up to date before playing. The game will continue to download while you’re playing, which may degrade performance.
  3. Our games require an up-to-date operating system in order to run properly. Run Windows Update to be sure you're using the most recent version.
  4. If you're playing on a laptop, optimize your power management settings and graphics options for gaming.
  5. Restart your computer to clear its memory and free up system resources that your game needs to run.
  6. In-game settings can have a large impact on game performance. Lower your in-game settings to improve performance.
  7. The game requires up-to-date drivers to run smoothly. Update your drivers regularly.
Advanced Troubleshooting
  1. Programs running in the background can interfere with the game. Close any running background applications.
  2. Changes to the software settings on your video card drivers may cause crashes. Reset your video driver settings to correct this problem.
  3. Your system components can overheat, causing your system to lock up and become unresponsive. Check for overheating components.
  4. The game file may be corrupt. Run Check disk and defragment your hard drive to try to repair any bad sectors.

Mac

Advanced Troubleshooting
  1. Programs running in the background can conflict with the Battle.net Update Agent. Try closing background applications.
  2. Overheating can cause your system to lock up and become unresponsive. Follow our overheating prevention guide to avoid this issue.
  3. If the internal subsystem known as the System Management Controller (SMC) is corrupted, this may degrade performance. Reset the SMC to resolve any related issues.
  4. The folder may be saved on a corrupt hard drive sector. Run the Repair Disk utility to resolve hard drive issues.
  5. Reinstall your drivers to resolve performance issues
  6. Run the Apple Hardware Test to ensure that there are no physical problems with your hard drive.
  7. Some MacBook Pro models have two separate graphics cards, which may require manual setup. Ensure your MacBook Pro is set to higher performance or automatic graphics switching is disabled. (15-inch, late 2008 | 17-inch, early 2009 | 15- and 17-inch, mid-2009 | 15-inch, mid-2010 and later | 17-inch, mid-2010 and later).
