If you change your video, sound, voice, or interface options for World of Warcraft but they revert after exiting the game, follow the troubleshooting steps below to resolve the issue.

Windows

  1. Make sure your World of Warcraft installation folder is not set to Read-only. This can be caused by copying the game installation folder from a second hard drive.
    • Right-click on your World of Warcraft folder.
    • Select Properties.
    • Uncheck Read-only.
    • Click the Apply button.
    • Make sure Apply changes to this folder, subfolders, and files is selected.
    • Click OK.
    • Click OK.
  2. Run the game in Administrator Mode to address many installation, patching, networking, and start-up errors.
  3. Programs running in the background can interfere with the game. Close any running background applications.
  4. Reset your UI to make sure your User Interface files are not corrupted.
