Character Locked Due to Failed Purchase

Common Problems

  • Character locked after failed faction change.
  • I canceled a race change, and now I cannot log on to that character.
  • Tried to log on and it says "The character update process you recently started must complete."

You can check the status of your character service by visiting the Transaction History page. On this page, choose the appropriate character service and click History/Status to view the status of the service. If the character service is not going through, you may need to set up a payment method and finalize the purchase. If you want to cancel the service, follow the steps below.

To create a payment method, please follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your Blizzard account
  2. Click the dropdown in the upper-right corner, and select Account Settings
  3. Click Settings and select My Payment Options
  4. Click the Add Payment Method button and fill in all necessary information

To finalize a character service purchase:

  1. Log in to your Blizzard account
  2. Click the dropdown in the upper-right corner, and select Account Settings
  3. Click on the World of Warcraft account that has the character service
  4. Scroll down and click on the appropriate character service
  5. Click on History/Status
  6. Click Finalize
To cancel a character service purchase:
  1. Log in to your Blizzard account
  2. Click the dropdown in the upper-right corner, and select Account Settings
  3. Click on the World of Warcraft account that has the character service
  4. Scroll down and click on the appropriate character service
  5. Click on History/Status
  6. Click Cancel
Note: If a service is cancelled, you will need to clear your internet browser's cache files and cookies before making a new attempt.
