If you experience a crash with a blue or black screen error message, a crash to your desktop, or if your computer locks up while playing World of Warcraft®, make sure your computer meets the World of Warcraft System Requirements before following the steps below.

Windows

  1. Reset your user interface to make sure your files and addons are not corrupted.
  2. Update your drivers to resolve any compatibility issues.
  3. Close all other applications to resolve software conflicts and free up resources.
  4. Run the repair tool to repair any damaged game files.
Advanced Troubleshooting
  1. Set your components to factory default speeds to resolve crashes due to overclocking.
  2. Changes to the software settings on your video card drivers may cause crashes or lockups. Reset your video driver settings to correct this problem.
  3. Overheating can cause performance issues, game crashes, and full computer lockups. Check for overheating components.
  4. Run ScanDisk and defragment your hard drive to try to repair any bad sectors.
    Note: Do not defragment a Solid State Drive (SSD).
  5. Run the Memory Diagnostic Tool to fix any errors in your computer's physical memory.
  6. If the problem persists, uninstall and reinstall the game.

Mac
