Common Problems

  • Someone else is using my email address
  • Received emails from Blizzard but do not have a Battle.net account

If you are receiving emails from Blizzard, it means a Battle.net account has been registered under your email. If you do not remember making a Battle.net account, there are a few possible reasons for that.

You play Battle.net Games

A Battle.net account is required to play our games on all platforms they’re available on, from PC to console platforms like an Xbox, PlayStation or Nintendo device . These are accounts registered to an email address you own and are used to save your game progress and store your in-game collections and unlocks. When registering, or installing and playing a Blizzard game, you will have been prompted to set up a Battle.net account under an email you own. You can login to your Battle.net account via this link and review your Privacy & Communication preferences via this link.

You used to play Battle.net Games

If you started playing Blizzard games before 2009, like World of Warcraft, an account with an associated email address was still required to play these games. When we introduced the current version of Battle.net accounts that year, you will have been prompted to create a Battle.net account to continue playing our games. It is possible that your Battle.net account under that email was hacked. If you believe your account was hacked, please contact us.

You have never played Battle.net Games

If you would like to start playing Blizzard games and make a Battle.net account, but receive an error that an account already exists on your email address, please contact us.

If you have never played, and do not wish to play Blizzard games but are receiving emails from Blizzard, it is possible an account was created on your email without your knowledge or approval. We would recommend that you contact us through the link above to have this matter investigated, so we can advise you on the best way to proceed.
