Overwatch Coins purchased on Battle.net, Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation will be shared across all three platforms, meaning any Overwatch Coins you purchase on one of these platforms can be used on all of them. Overwatch Coins redeemed and/or purchased on Battle.net, Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation will not be accessible on Nintendo's eShop. Overwatch Coins redeemed and/or purchased on Nintendo's eShop can only be used for in-game purchases on Nintendo eShop.
You can view your Overwatch Coins total in the Battle.net Desktop App, or through Battle.net Account Management. Note that Overwatch Coins purchased on Nintendo's eShop will not be displayed in your Overwatch Coins total, however any Overwatch Coins earned through game play on Nintendo Switch will be displayed.
Content from in-game purchases made with Overwatch Coins on any platform will be accessible across linked accounts on all platforms (Battle.net, Steam, Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo). Overwatch Coins earned in-game will also be accessible across linked accounts on all platforms (Battle.net, Steam, Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo).
In-game purchases on your desktop or laptop can be paid with any of the payment methods accepted in the Battle.net Shop. The Available Payment Methods depend on the country registered on your Battle.net account. If you have Battle.net Balance on your account, Overwatch will suggest this payment method by default.
Controlling In-game Purchases
To prevent in-game purchases on a desktop or laptop client, you can enable Battle.net Parental Controls.
To prevent in-game purchases on console devices, you must set up restrictions on your device’s settings.
Payment Methods
Overwatch® uses your Battle.net account's primary payment method (credit card or PayPal™) to complete purchases for Overwatch Coins. If you do not have a credit card or PayPal account on file, you can add them on your Battle.net Account Management page.
Add Payment MethodIf you do not have access to a credit card or PayPal, Overwatch also accepts alternate payment methods like prepaid cards through Battle.net Balance. If you choose to use Battle.net Balance, it must be loaded on your account before you can use it to buy Overwatch Coins.
If you have Battle.net Balance on your account to cover the price—including sales tax—Overwatch will try using it before trying your primary payment method.
Load BalanceNote: Loading Battle.net Balance takes up to three days to complete. For a more immediate payment source, set up a primary payment method instead.

Other Common Payment Errors
Loot Boxes can be earned through gameplay. Loot Boxes on the same account are shared across all platforms. Opening a Loot Box will add a set number of cosmetic items to your collection. The items obtained depends on the type of Loot Box opened.
*Loot Boxes are not available from the Free Battle Pass or the Premium Battle Pass in Belgium.
There are two types of Loot Boxes:
Loot Box
- This box draws from a curated collection of Overwatch and Overwatch 2 cosmetic items.
- Each box will drop 4 items when opened. The items you get are randomly selected at the time of box opening.
- Boxes will prioritize giving you items you don't already own.
- If we can't avoid giving you an item you already own, we will instead grant progress towards a bonus box.
- In general, we'll add items to the box on a regular cadence.
- At the start of each season, any unopened boxes from previous seasons will be automatically opened and all items dropped from them are added to your collection.
