Common Problems

  • My friend isn't receiving my friend request
  • I get the error "You don't have room for any more Blizzard friends"

If you cannot add BattleTag or Real ID friends, make sure you are entering your friend’s BattleTag or email address correctly. If the problem persists, check the following.

Friends Blocked by Mistake

Make sure neither of you has the other one blocked in error, for example, if you ignored each other in-game.

  1. Open the Blizzard App
  2. Click on the Blizzard logo and click on Settings
  3. Click Friends & Chat
  4. Click View Block List

If you blocked each other, remove the block and try adding each other as friends again.

New Blizzard Accounts

You and your friend can only become BattleTag or Real ID friends if each of your Blizzard accounts is correctly set up.

If you are new to our games and you have recently created your account:

  • Make sure you have registered your full name in your in your Account Details page and a secret question in your Security page
  • If you just purchased the game in the Blizzard Shop, check your Transaction History page to make sure your order shows as Complete

If your friend is new, make sure he/she does the same and try adding each other as friends again.

Friend List Full

You can have a maximum of 200 BattleTag or Real ID friends. If you reached 200 friends, you will receive the error "You don't have room for any more Blizzard friends”. To add a new friend, you must first unfriend someone else.

Too Many Pending Friend Requests

Pending friend requests that you’ve sent will count against your friend list limit.

To view your sent friend requests:

  1. Open the Blizzard App
  2. Click on the Blizzard logo and click on Settings
  3. Click Friends & Chat
  4. Click View Sent Friend Requests

If you have a lot of pending requests out, delete some and try adding each other as friends again.

Parental Controls

An account that is restricted by Parental Controls cannot have Real ID friends. If you are under the age of majority, speak to your parents to Update your Parental Control Settings. If your friend is under the age of majority, make sure he/she does the same.

You can have BattleTag friends even if restricted by Parental Controls.
